Start your adventure with the Underground Mine Tour – a 1,300-ft underground walking tour and the only one like it in the world! View fantastic fluorescent minerals, some which are only found in New Jersey, learn about mining techniques, see tools of the trade on display, take a ride down to the mine and learn about local history.
After you are done learning about all the rare specimen of rocks found in New Jersey, you will learn about New Jersey’s history of growing grapes and producing wines. More than two hundred years ago, London’s Royal Society of the Arts recognized two New Jersey vintners for their success in producing the first bottles of quality wine derived from colonial agriculture. Today New Jersey's wineries continue the tradition of producing high quality wines. Visiting the wineries of the north most parts of New Jersey offer views of some of the highest elevations, large parcel farms and spectacular mountains of northern New Jersey.

Cava Winery & Vineyard
Cava is happy to be working with Sterling Hill Mining Museum; in fact, the word Cava in Italian means cave or mine. Cava branded wines are named after different minerals, like our Zincato, D’oro, Antimonio, and others.
Making wine is a passion for Cava Winery & Vineyard! Along with the drive to connect with their heritage, they are creating wines they proudly call our own. So in New Jersey, a place where Italian-American culture has had a strong presence for many years, owner Anthony Riccio presents a winery with a vision to tie the old world to the new.
Come visit Cava for a tasting, or enjoy your favorite bottle outside, by our vineyard. Their house chef can prepare some delicious food for you from the lighter fare menu as well.
